This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use JobFolio (available at jobfolio.base44.app $mdash; the "Service"), how we use it, the choices you have, and how we keep it safe. We built JobFolio to give job seekers a genuine edge in their search, and we take your privacy seriously because the data you entrust to us is the foundation of that edge.

Information you provide directly

• Account information: your name and email address when you register, sign in, or accept an invitation to join JobFolio.
• Profile and job search preferences: details such as your preferred locations, current city, job search intensity, target roles, and career history you choose to add.
• Job application data: job posting URLs you paste for import, and the company name, job title, location, salary, requirements, status, notes, and dates you track for each application.
• Documents: resumes, cover letters, and portfolios you upload, along with any text extracted or generated from them.
• Interview information: interview dates, types, interviewer details, notes, and follow-up email drafts you save.
• Career stories: STAR-format stories you create and any AI analysis of them.
• Messages you send us: the name, email, and message you submit through our contact form.

Information collected automatically

• Job posting content: when you import a job by URL, JobFolio retrieves and parses the public job posting to extract details like the title, company, description, and salary.
• Usage data: aggregated, pseudonymous analytics about how the Service is used (for example, counts of page loads, jobs added, or URL imports) to help us improve JobFolio.
• Technical data: standard request information such as browser type and timestamps, collected as part of operating the Service.

Information from authentication providers

If you sign in using a third-party provider (such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, or Facebook), we receive the authentication details necessary to create and sign you into your JobFolio account, such as your email address and the name associated with that account.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including importing jobs, tailoring resumes, generating interview prep, and tracking your pipeline.
• To generate AI-powered insights, suggestions, and content based on your documents, applications, and career history.
• To monitor whether job postings you are tracking remain active and to alert you when a posting changes or comes down.
• To send you transactional and account-related messages, welcome emails, weekly progress updates, and posting-down notifications.
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the quality, features, and performance of JobFolio.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

3. How AI Processes Your Data

JobFolio uses artificial intelligence to deliver features like resume tailoring, ATS scoring, interview prep, mock interviews, application question answering, and career story analysis. To do this, we send relevant portions of your data — such as resume text, job descriptions, your career history, and application notes — to our AI provider, OpenAI, for processing. The content generated is returned to your account and is not shared with other users.

We use OpenAI's API under terms intended to prevent your data from being used to train models for others. We do not use your personal data to train AI models for anyone but you. AI-generated content is a tool to assist you, not professional or legal advice; you should review it before use.

4. Job Posting Monitoring

For applications linked to a job posting URL, JobFolio periodically checks whether the posting is still live by fetching the URL and analyzing the response. This helps keep your pipeline accurate. We only check URLs you have added to your applications. When a posting changes or appears to be taken down, we may notify you and update the application's status.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

JobFolio uses cookies and browser local storage for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and saving your in-progress Resume Optimizer sessions on your device. We do not use cookies to sell your data or to serve cross-site advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect some features.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as described here:

• AI provider: OpenAI receives the content needed to generate AI results, as described above.
• Service providers: trusted providers that help us run JobFolio, such as hosting, database, email delivery, and authentication services, under agreements that protect your data.
• With your consent: where you expressly authorize a specific sharing.
• Legal compliance: where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of JobFolio, our users, or others.
• Business transfer: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality safeguards.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active so you can use the Service. You can deactivate your account from the Privacy Center or your Profile at any time, which hides your data and signs you out. You can request full deletion of your data by contacting us. We may retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate purposes such as fraud prevention and record-keeping.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Export a copy of your data, such as your applications as a CSV.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Delete your data or request erasure.
• Opt out of marketing and non-essential emails.

JobFolio may be used from many locations. If you access the Service from outside the region where our infrastructure operates, your data may be transferred to and processed in that region. By using JobFolio, you consent to such transfers where applicable.

11. Children's Privacy

JobFolio is intended for individuals who are old enough to seek employment. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
